I have applied for an MBA at a handful of business schools in Germany. I have looked at maybe around 70 such schools, both private and public, both known and relatively unknown. I have come to the conclusion that the MBA, possibly due to its high profit potential, is likely to be a chargeable program, even among the public universities (public education is free across states but not necessarily across all programs). Meanwhile, private universities that offer an MBA charge a pretty penny.
From the various sources that I have come across, I can conclude that the top-tier schools for an MBA in Germany are WHU, ESMT, Mannheim, HHL, and University of Cologne. Among these, University of Cologne is the cheapest (maybe even free; I didn't delve into UofC as its application deadlines were out-of-sync for me). All of the other schools mentioned charge sky-high rates, and that I believe is due to their demand among student applicants.
The highest cost I have seen is ESMT at 36k euro. Tuition of many of the top-tier schools falls within the 25-32k range. Cologne Business School, a good school that does not chart as consistently as most top b-schools, charges around 22k. ESB in Reutlingen, a top-tier b-school housed in a public university, charges 6.9k for its year-long program.
Bottomline: if you are fortunate enough to secure placement AND a scholarship or some form of financial aid going into these programs, then that would be slam dunk of an opportunity.

SKCET is doing quite well in management studies, but it certainly isn't the best, there are a lot of better players, LPU is one of the top one. The MBA programme at LPU is a great mix of cutting edge curriculum, experiential learning pedagogy, industry interface, projects, internships and consultancies, technologies trainings and many more. The sheer size of campus and number of students provides a plethora of opportunities to students to explore their entrepreneurial skills. The multicultural intake ensures that students learn and understand cultural sensibilities which become an asset in corporate life. The most striking point however is the center for professional enhancement, the students are exposed to new ideas about personality development, professional etiquette, virtues, ethics, interpersonal and networking skills for almost full duration of the programme rather than just a few weeks of placement trainings. This inculcates these qualities in the students in much better way and go a long way into shaping the career apart from cracking the interviews. Coming to reputation, since you asked, NIRF a government agency has ranked Mittal School of business among top 50 B-schools in the country twice in a row, in some of the parameters it has even beaten most IIMs and ranked no. 2 in the country !
More importantly, more than 200 companies visit the campus for recruitment of management grads only ! Which is a huge number and a big achievement. More than 97% of eligible graduates get their dream placements. It is not like any other university, you can SEE it from the first step of selection, even Iims have basic eligibility of 50% in graduation, while LPU has raised the bar to 55%. No wonder it has one of the largest intakes in the country which has over 97% placement record. Recent NIRF rankings have put Mittal School of business among top 50 b-schools in the country for second year straight. Hope this helps
