The eligibility to sit for CAT is that the candidate needs to have a minimum of 50% and above aggregate marks through a recognized University. The students can even appear for this test after giving his/her final year Exams.
As far as preparation of CAT is concerned, as every individual is different so is his capabilities and the capacity to perform, so depending on your level of capability which you may gauge by taking a mock CAT, you can take a decision whether you should go for self study or Coaching. However, as CAT is quite a tough Examination advisable would be that you should join some coaching.
