CMAT:
1. Conducted once a year January (from 2016 onwards) - earlier 2 times in September and February.
2. Except IIMs, XLRI Jamshedpur and all colleges mentioned above, all other colleges accpet its scores.
3. Conducted by AICTE.
4. Question paper consists of 4 sections containing Quant+DI, LR, Language Comprehension and GK.
5. 40k to 60k students participate in it.
6. Important colleges include those under Mumbai University. MAT:
1. Conducted 4 times in a year.
2. All CMAT colleges accept MAT scores as well.
3. Students may vary depending upon the time of the test.
4. Pen and paper-based as well as Computer based test. Above two are only computer-based tests.

Some steps I can think of:
Write down what companies you want to work in future. Clearly write WHY. Research about each of these companies by going to their website, LinkedIn, QUORA and other social networks. Look up in career websites likeIndeed. Com, Monster Jobs - Job Search, Career Advice & Hiring Resources, CareerBuilderand others Indian Job sites. Search for past or present interns from LinkedIn and connect with them. Follow them and get some the latest guidance. There are internship related specific websites in every country - like pooja mentionedInternships in India | Internshala; for others, browse the google. So, by having a clear about the companies you want to work in, connecting with interns -who already worked, connecting with your friends from network or current college, preparing well, you will be able to get into a good internship.
