IIEST Shibpur Mechanical is ranked at 7th above IIT Kanpur, IIT BHU and BITS Pilani by Edu-Rand a Highly Reputed Indo - American Ranking organization. MHRD / NIRF Ranked IIEST at 7th by Research Parameter At Par with IIT Roorkee - just after six old IITs, but above all other IITs and above all the NITs in the Country. Overall, IIEST Ranked at 20 by MHRD / NIRF above many IITs and Above All NITs except three. Mechanical Engineering in IIEST Shibpur is surely one of the Best Departments in India and definitely better than NIT Allahabad or NIT Culicut by any measure. The placement of the mechanical branch is quite good at NIT Rourkela.
