No, looking at previous year cutoffs you might not get admission for B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering in NIT Delhi with 7932 rank but you can look for other branches for admission.
Your rank is really good you can apply for some other good government colleges for ECE branch.

In order to be a professor of physics at an IIT, you must complete your B.Sc physics with good grades and get into any of the top-notch Masters programmes of the country, namely, in IITs, HCRI and some other top universities of India like DU, JU, JNU and CUH, and then get your doctorate done from the prestigious universities in UK and USA followed by 2 or 3 years' post-doc in physics.
