For CA first of all you need to register yourself for CPT.The very first stage is clearing CPT.As you have a science background you should take coaching to prepare yourself for CPT.
COMMON PROFICIENCY TEST (CPT) is one paper of Four hours duration of 200 Marks divided in 4 section namely-
Section A: Fundamentals of Accounting ( 60 Marks )
Section B: Mercantile Law ( 40 Marks )
Section C: General Economics ( 50 Marks )
Section D: Quantitative Aptitude ( 50 Marks ).
After passing the CPT you need to go for Articleship (training) under a CA.Also you can register yourself for IPCC.After passing the IPCC you can register yourself for Final Stage of CA.
To become a CA you have to write the CA CPT exam.The exam is going to be held on 19th June 2011.For writing this exam the candidate must be eligible for it.
Eligibility:
The candidates must have passed his/her +2 from the recognized board.
The candidates who passed their degree in B.Com,M.com,LLB,MBA are eligible for the exam.
The candidates who are appearing for the last exam for their final degree are eligible.
The candidates must get 50% in the four subjects.There will be negative marking for wrong answer 1/4th of the mark will be deducted.
Of course, you can go for the CA course. For pursuing the program, you should register for Common Proficiency Test. The test conducted by ICAI. As you are not from a commerce background, it is good to go to a coaching center. This exam is mainly conducted in May or November. Those who finished the CPT can attend the Integrated Professional Competency program.
