Hi,
Preparing for IAS requires combination of smartness and hard work. Do the right things to gain an edge over your competition:
*Get the right books for Prelims
*Start preparing at least 10 months before
*Solve past year questions to test yourself on regular basis
*Cover the scoring sections early
*Cover the syllabus strategically. Don't go for a "prepare all" approach for IAS prelims
*Balance paper 1 and 2

Universities in every country has its own course specific eligibility criteria for admission, in order to know the exact eligibility criteria it would be always advisable to browse through the university's website you wish to apply.
Overall, in order to pursue undergraduate degree from universities abroad you need to have:
Good academic record preferably 60%-70% plus in 12th.
TOEFL score of 80-90 plus or IELTS score of 6-7 bands plus.
SAT score of 1700-1800 plus (Required by universities in US)
