IIIT Kottayam does not offer direct admission. Candidates need to pass an entrance exam and participate in selection rounds for admission. IIT BHU's placement season in 2022 saw remarkable success with over 1,000 job offers extended. Among the highlights were 305 Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs), and an impressive 308 companies participating in the campus recruitment drive. The interested applicants may complete the application form through the official site of IIT BHU to take up full-time M.Tech programmes. In the case of part-time/ sponsored full-time courses, the interested candidates can simply register themselves on the formal site of the institute. Part-time M.Tech courses admission comes in form of selection after a written exam which is funded by the institution followed by an interview.

The selection criteria for admission to the M.Tech programme at IIT BHU follow common eligibility requirements, which include possessing an undergraduate degree in the relevant discipline. Additionally, the selection process considers the GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) score as the primary factor. Candidates must also participate in COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal) Counselling, which is a centralised platform for admissions to M.Tech programmes in IITs. The combination of the GATE score and the COAP Counselling process determines the final selection of candidates for the M.Tech programme at IIT BHU.
