Hi Siddhartha,While filling the SOP in online application mention the reason for the gap. I don't think that it will be a big deciding factor in shortlisting, provided your quality of education and your entrance exam scores are good. If shortlisted for the interview, also state the reason for the gap to the interviewer. Again, the gap will not be a deciding factor if the reasons are valid.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other query. Happy to help you. If you find this answer helpful, please select it as best answer or give it a thumbs up. Thank you and Good Luck!

Rupa, Design is a field that is age old and has been evolving every year like science. Sometimes student Artists are too much enamoured by Fine Arts preventing them to look objectively at Design. They must read this http://bit.ly/SXc9GD. Again like science it pays to be at the cutting edge. For e.g. science students do better if they go for CS or IT since that are areas where development is taking place rapidly. Similarly in Design the cutting edge areas are UID/ UXD, 3D Printing, Immersive Technology, Augmented Reality, 3D Projection etc, besides of course Game Design and Animation. Of course at the top of the pile lies Concept Design
