I would recommend you to join a club which plays in competitive lower level divisional league so that you will get some idea of what it takes to be a footballer.
Keep an eye on popular clubs conducting trials for U-18 or U-20 and practice basic skills and work on the skills most required for the position you play.You have to work hard all year or years together.Opportunities are very less, so you got to be ready when it comes. Most of the I-League teams have youth teams so you do have to appear in the trials conducted by them.
