Food engineering is a combination of science, microbiology, and engineering education for food and related industries. Food engineering includes the application of agricultural engineering and chemical engineering principles to food materials.The prospective major employers for food engineers include companies involved in food processing, food machinery, packaging, ingredient manufacturing, instrumentation and control. Firms that design and build food processing plants, consulting firms, government agencies, pharmaceutical, and health-care firms also hire food engineers.
Scope in India
A food technologist can get the job of a Quality Assurance Manager, Production Manager, Laboratory Supervisor, Food Packaging Manager or as a technician in food processing and packaging industry or even as a research associate in premier institutes, universities and research and development units. The openings are mainly in the production and quality control departments. You can also work as food packaging technologist and food preservation managers in various food packaging industries.

Please also try in government organisations, where there are vacancies for statistical analysts-in the field of labour statistics, health organisations etc.Of course, if you can spare two years in further study of a professional course, please go for MBA full-time course.
For management entrance examinations like CAT,MAT,XAT etc, you need to have an APTITUDE for management. Basic requirements are good English,mathematics (which you already have), analytical ability, reasoning, etc.
Once you get through in the online written examination, you wll be called for a group discussion, followed by an interview, wherein the selectors to the course will ascertain your managerial potential , which will be honed by theoretical knowledge.
There is no need for an industry experience. Once you get admission into MBA course, they will teach you about the industry. Even the MBA graduates passing out do not have much of industry experience, except for a short period of summer training. The only thing they possess is - their aptitude towards managing an organization, which is backed by their theoretical knowledge of management, which they will be using once they get an opportunity.
So, why are you SCARED ? There is no reason for getting scared. You already have an upper hand in maths/stats. In fact, I am scared of maths/statistics. Does that seem strange to you ? Everybody has some positive and some negative qualities. Push up your positive qualities and suppress the negative ones.
