Civil Engineering in VIT is good. Faculties are decent and the opportunities of projects are also as per standards of good engineering colleges. However problem with Civil Engineering is that it is literally a dying field. Don't ever anticipate that after 3-4 years, there will be any progress in this field. Because no matter how many infrastructural projects come up the intake of civil engineers in core jobs will be same. I don't know why it's that way. Talking about placements in the Civil dept of VIT, it's downright poor. About 30-40%. The best company that recruits from VIT is L&T construction. However you'll have to be in the top 40s for it. Godrej Properties gives good package, however their intake is less that 5. Tata housing, saint gobain are other 2 core firms that recruited last year but they too have a meagre intake and pay package. If you want to go for higher studies then you might take up civil in VIT.

As a civil engineer, you will have to plan out, design and supervise the construction of different types of buildings. You need to posses good knowledge of mathematics and Science. Also, you must also have good supervisory and administrative skills.
Furthermore, you must be ready to sweat it out at construction sites and even work under stressful and hostile conditions. And if you think you fit the bill then civil engineering is the right profession for you.
There is huge demand for civil engineers in India and it is also expected to get a boost as the country gets ready to upgrade its infrastructure with growing economic and political clout in the world. The career opens a lot of opportunities in numerous government departments. Civil engineers are employed in all major construction projects carried out by central and state government agencies.

Mahommad sir don't go with which stream is better. Go with what you want do after studying B.Tech. You may take following considerations. If you like computer, want to build crazy application or something related to software go with Computer Science engineering. If you like playing with machines/motors or electricity go ahead with Mechanical engineering. Or Electrical engineering. If you are India, after studying Electronics and communication engineering most of the students gets job/work in IT companies. Only few percent gets chance in electronics companies. So I would suggest, better to study Computer Science engineering. If you want to sail through vast sea go with Marine engineering. If you have not decided what you want to do after B.Tech, sit for one or two days and decided what you want to do. If still confused, select any of the engineering mentioned in point # 1, 2 and 3 (Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, or Electronics). Best of luck.

Yes, you can as it is one of the good branch of engineering.
Ample amounts of scope is available in front of graduates in both Government as well as private sector. The advantage that IC Engineers have on their side is that there is relatively lesser number of Graduates coming out of Colleges each year (IC branch), when compared to other Engineering branches. This results in low competition for job posts, which ultimately helps Graduates land good jobs fast!
Manufacturing units, Electronics Industries, Robotics and Automation sector are the prime recruiters. Graduates may also start up their own venture and develop control systems for Industries. Working as an Independent consultant is another option available in front of Graduates.
