Yes, there is an entrance test for admission to MCA in GNDU. In case you fail to clear the same don't worry. You can try for admission in Amritsar College of Engineering, Lovely Professional University, Chandigarh Engineering College, Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology, etc. All these are good institutions in Punjab.
If you are interested in studying further after your MCA, Lovely Professional University offers you MCA-M.Tech intergrated degree too.
They are offering scholarships too on the basis of marks in previous qualifying exam.
Best of luck.

There I would say UPES would be a good choice and also has pretty fair placements records even in the days of recession, so I hope they will definitely show better results in growing market. Free seat is a seat on which admission is done on the basis of merit in some exam conducted by the university or some other body recognized by the university. Paid seat is a seat on which admission is done on payment of fee which is in excess of the fee payable towards tuition fee and other fees and other charges declared by any institution in its prospectus for admitting any person as student in such institution.
There are universities many universities like Sharda, Lovely, NIIT that do not have this system. Same fee is applicable to one and all. Some of these universities also offer scholarships to students.
