Salary depends on various parameters such as size of the organization, profile, qualification, experience etc.
But, still, to give you a brief idea,
In government sectors one can earn a salary ranging from Rs. 10,000 to Rs.25,000 per month.
In private sectors one can initially earn a salary ranging from Rs. 8000 to Rs.15000 per month and the salary increases up to Rs.8,00,0000 per annum with an experience of 3-4 years.
Private sectors offer an attractive salary when compared to the public sector. In India students who pass out from a reputed IT institutes can expect a direct placement in good firms with pleasing salary packages.

There are many polytechnics offering diploma in engineering. We would have been in a better position to help you if you had specified the place, mode-full time/distance/part time. The admission to the Diploma Engineering Courses is made through the Joint Entrance Test. Candidates who qualify the JET are eligible for admission to various courses offered. Alternatively if you want do your diploma through distance learning then, the Construction Industry Development Council, jointly with Assam University, Silchar, Assam is offering diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil engineering. All the programs are on offer, both in traditional (Contact) mode of education, as well as the Distance Mode using open learning pedagogy. Eligibility for these course is-10th Class/ITI or CIDC Vocational Certified.
