But in my opinion if he is getting the nit, which is a among top 4 than he should take admission this year.

There are no particular cut-off marks or ranks. If your rank is below 30000 then you can get admission into SRM University at any of its other campuses which means you need to score atleast 170/315.

If you have just completed 12th.you have a long journey. If you are not doing b. Tech then go for BSc physics honors. You would then do masters, PhD, research and so on

Of course yes after 12th you can take admission in BFDM i.e. Bachelor in Fashion Design and merchandising. Apart from the degree course there will be lot of certificate and diploma courses are available for interested candidates of FD.

MBA can be done by any student who scored minimum 50% of marks at Graduation level in any disciplines. The MBA admissions are based on management entrance exams scores like CAT CMAT XAT MAT etc. So if you have BBA degree with minimum 50% of marks and any entrance test scores as mentioned above than can be eligible for MBA programme. 12th pass students are not eligible for MBA however the can be eligible for Integrated MBA courses offers by various Colleges.

It completely depends on your interests and skill sets. Engineering is a very good option. Electronics and communication, computer Science, telecommunication, instrumentation are some very popular courses. Alternately, you may want to do medicine too.
