Don't worry. State Open schooling are there for each states. This will help students to join for the courses they are interested in. Science, Commerce, Humanities combinations available with State open schools. It comes under state board, so syllabus and certificates are same.

NIOS subjects are easy compared to State Boards and CBSE. And NIOS HSc certificate is equal to State / CBSE Boards. So higher education is not a problem.
For Science subjects, he require tuition. Please arrange tuition for him. Alternatively you can search for Entrance coaching institutes registered with state open schools. Such institutions are providing HSc -Science and Entrance coaching together.
