I am feeling proud to answer this question as I am a DTUite and pursuing mechanical engineering.
Placement for ME branch is decent through out the year and is improving batch by batch.

As far I know, the training and placement department at IIITD helps students a lot.
The minimum percentage that one should maintain to be eligible to sit in placements is 65%.

PCMB and PCM both are two different branches and thus you have to give a little extra attention than the students who opted for PCM or PCB.
It will be a very good choice. If you have the desire to do it then do it with full dedication.

I am sorry to say but according to your marks in JEE Mains paper 1, there is no chance of you to get into any of the NIT.
You haven't cleared the cut-off, not even the OBC cut-off.

Follow your interest, that's the most important tip. You should know the areas of your interests, your strengths, career plans etc. After PCB there are many options such as MBBS, B.Sc Biology, B.Sc Chemistry, B.Sc BioChemistry, B.Sc Food and Nutrition, B.Sc Agriculture and so on.
