UPSC examination is conducted every year and on the basis of this examination a number of IAS, IPS, IFS officers are recruited.

To be eligible :
- You need to pass graduation in any field from any recognized university.
- You are eligible if you are in the final year of graduation.
- Your age must be between 21 to 30 years. 3 and 5 years of relaxation for OBC and SC/ST respectively.
- You must be an Indian citizen.
If you fulfill the criteria mentioned above, you may sit for the exam.

To crack the exam, the preparation requires the right approach along with the right study materials and strategy.

General Studies Manual
Indian Politics by Lakshmikanth
Ancient History by D.D.Kausambi’s
R.S.Agarwal [Arithmetic]
Wren & Martin [English Grammar]
Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation by Arun Sharma
- You may even study journals and even watch television for important news reports.
- Reading English newspapers will also help the students to get a good hold on the English language.
- Always keep the syllabus and past five years question papers handy.
- You may even join coaching center to work on your fundamentals.

There are a plethora of opportunities for a law graduate. One can either practice as an advocate in a court of law or work with corporate firms. By clearing exams conducted by Public Service Commissions, a law graduate can become a judge. After gaining experience, a law graduate can hope to become Solicitor General, a Public Prosecutor or offer services to government departments and ministries. One can also work as a legal adviser for various organisations. Teaching in colleges, working with NGOs and working as a reporter for newspapers and television channels are other attractive options.There are equally good opportunities in the government sector. Central Government recruits law professionals through UPSC. The State Public Service Commissions recruit judicial officers for various positions with the state police, revenue department and judiciary (sub-magistrates, public prosecutors etc). Being one of the optional subjects in civil services law graduates can also compete in the exam.
Apart from the above, law professionals are also in demand by the public sector companies, multinationals and banks. A law degree can be an asset in career progression for Management graduates, especially for those specialising in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations. It is also an extremely desirable combination with Company Secretaryship.
