Hi Kavita, UPSC examination is held every year to recruit a number of IAS, IPS, IFS officers.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA :
1)A candidate should have a degree of graduation in any field from any recognized university.
2)A candidate in his final year is also eligible for the civil services exam. (IPS, IFS, IAS)
3)A candidate's age must be between 21 to 30 years. 3 and 5 years of relaxation for OBC and SC/ST respectively.
4)A candidate must be an indian citizen.

Well I don't think that there would be any change on the selection of optional subjects though there might be in the pattern. I would you suggest you to stick by your choice and put in your best for the preparation. And constantly check the UPSC site for all sort of updates.
Preparing for this competitive and high intensity exam is very tough part of everything for the preparation some prefer self study while others opt for coaching.
