In order to become a teacher it is a must to have a minimum of 60% marks in graduation. Also, it must be from a recognized university.
The entrance exam will consist of questions from mathematics, general studies and reasoning. It will also test the candidates for their teaching skills.

Yes, you can take admission in IITs after your Diploma through lateral entry program. You have to check the eligibility criteria. For lateral entry, there is an entrance exam required or some IITs have on merit basis also.

Yes, you can take GATE exam with mechanical. The GATE authority allows two paper combination for various papers in case any candidate wish to appear in more than one paper in the same year.
