ASP is for developing ASP pages, it won't use .Net framework to run the pages. It just needs IIS.
.ASPX is for developing ASP.NET pages, this uses .Net framework!
Both ASP and ASPX are for develping web pages. But ASPX (ASP.NET) is a new and better approch for develping web pages.
