Both small and large companies in the private sector and the government sector offer placement for electrical engineers. Electrical engineers can find employment in Electrical equipment and systems manufacturing companies, Power generation and transmission, Telecommunication, Railways, IT industry, Health care equipment manufacturing industry, public sector industries like petroleum, steel and chemical industry, Research and design etc.
Electrical graduates are employed in Electricity Boards/Utility companies and large industries as engineers and managers, responsible for installation, maintenance, the operation of power handling equipment and systems. Industries manufacturing large electrical machines and equipment employ engineers in design, production and testing. Electrical engineers also find employment in atomic power plants, hydroelectric power plants as well as thermal power plants. Many electrical engineering graduates opt for careers in the food, pulp and paper, chemical, aircraft and automobile industries.
Educational Institutions and Research establishments recruit electrical engineers as faculty and scientists. One can also do research work in this field by joining research labs and institutes. Young engineers have chances in the Defence Services also. For selection into the Defence Services- Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, applications are invited through National dailies and Employment News.

GATE Entrance examination allows for various job opportunities in various government sections as well as for admission into Masters courses in Engineering. The online application form is available from the month of September. The examination is conducted online in the month of January. There will be 60 questions, out of which 15 are from General Aptitude section and 45 are from your selected branch of engineering. The examination will be of 3 hours. Some questions do not have negative marking, others have a deduction of one-third of the total marks for incorrect answers. The results are declared in the month of March. Based on the GATE scores, a student can apply for various job opportunities, or apply to colleges for Masters in Engineering.

There is a number of good government as well as private colleges providing quality education and placements in Computer Science Engineering (B.Tech CSE). After completing class 12th, you need to appear for various engineering entrance examinations. Your rank in those entrance examinations is a key factor in deciding which college you will be able to get admission in. For example, JEE Advanced provides admission in IITs, JEE Mains provides admission in NITs and other government engineering colleges. Every state conducts its own entrance examinations for admission to private colleges affiliated to the state university. Some autonomous colleges (deemed universities) conduct their own entrance examinations.

The best approach to score well in the exam will be to combine your board's preparation with JEE Main paper 2 preparations, though the format may differ but the concepts remain the same.
Tips for B. Arch JEE:
1. Focus on understanding the concept before moving on to the next topic. Refer to both Class XI and XII books for maths especially.
2. Divide your syllabus into monthly and weekly segments and assign practical targets to achieve them.
3. Work on your observation skills and drawing to prepare for the aptitude and drawing tests. You may join a coaching class for drawing practice.
4. Utilize your engineering drawing notes for 2D/3D questions preparation.
5. Clear your doubt at the earliest to avoid any confusion later.
6. Try to add variation in your daily study schedule, like study maths, drawing and aptitude related topics, to avoid monotony.
7. Make revision notes/flash cards on concepts, formulae, definitions etc. for each topic.
8. Solve enough sample papers and previous years tests to develop pace and practice. You can even take online mock tests for practice.
