Being alumni of LPU, I can share the details of placements at LPU only.
If I talk about the rankings of the Lovely Professional University Zee News Survey rated us as 11th Best in India in Placements. Top companies visited for placements: Volkswagon, Voltas, Anglo-Eastern Ship Mgt., Asahi India, Rockman (Hero group), Dharam Consulting, Samundra, Indo-MIM, Sandhar Technologies, JK Lakshmi Cement, Maruti, Lava, XL Dynamics, Asahi India, Cleanmax Solar, Elgi Equipments, etc. The highest packages availed by the students are Rs 7.9 LPA for ME from Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India and Rs 7.5 LPA for ME from Wilmar International. IAS exams are conducted by UPSC every year.
To become IAS officer you need to complete your studies i.e. after 12th complete Graduation from a recognized university.
Minimum qualification required to appear for IAS exams is Graduation from a recognized university.
It is under Civil Service Exam conducted once in a Year by UPSC.To become an IAS Officer One Needs to crack Civil Service Exam.
You need focused study of subjects.You should analyze the syllabus, and hard work is needed to crack this examination.Its important to have some reading habits as that will help you to keep yourself updated about the current affairs.Read lots of magazines and news papers.Also you should be strong in aptitude and the subjects that you have chosen or will choose.ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Educational Qualifications:
Bachelors degree of a recognized university
Age limit: 21 years must be completed on 1st August of the year, which a candidate is appearing. Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs.
Number of Attempts:
Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt.

Doing M.Arch in Architecture would be a good decision after B.Tech Civil. But there are certain points that you must think before making a final decision.
1. There are lesser job opportunities in architecture but it depends on the college that you are getting admission into. If placement records are sound then nothing to worry about. You may go ahead.
2. Getting job at the start is tough due to less opportunities.
3. Architectural job involves planning and designing and if you good at both of these then only step into this field otherwise you would regret. Also you need to be creative and imaginative.
However, if you get a job initially then you won't face any problem. Also, the packages are very high right from the starting of the career and as you gain experience your package will keep on increasing rapidly.
