The preference is always given to Maharashtra state students; there is some percentage of seats kept for other state candidates, so you definitely stand a better chance as you are in Maharashtra since your childhood.

CAT has 3 sections - quants, verbal and LRDI. for self preparation, use Trishna for quants, Nishit K Sinha for LRDI and arun sharma for verbal. if you want, join TIME or IMS for best preparation.
generally the exam is conducted in a 20 days online format towards the end of november.

first step is to qualify CAT and then qualified candidates have to sit for GDPI. based on the scores of two steps and available seats, candidates are given admission.
