Public sector jobs after M.Sc. in biotechnology:
M.Sc. in biotechnology graduates interested in research can pursue their career as Junior/Senior Research Fellow in governmental organizations. Those who work as Senior Research Fellow in Advanced Centre for Treatment Research and Education in Cancer have a monthly salary of around Rs. 18200/- per month. Research Fellow positions are also offered at National Institute of Plant Genome Research, Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health (NIRRH), etc. Emoluments offered in these firms will be in the range of Rs. 12, 000/- to Rs. 18, 000/- per month.

The candidate desiring to seek admission to Ph.D. Programme at NCU shall apply for the same on the prescribed Application Form 1 by a due date announced by NCU. The applications will be scrutinized by the concerned School Doctoral Research Committees (SDRCs). Candidates who do not have valid score in national tests like GATE UGC NET and SLET will have to appear in Entrance Test named NCU Ph.D. Entrance Test (NPET) and will have the following weightage of various components for admission: NPET marks 50%, Qualifying degree marks 30%, and Interview 20%. BHMS has a better scope. After the completion of BHMS, you can apply for :
M.D. is Masters Degree Level.
Ph.D is Doctoral Degree Level.
It will be the best to finish both.
However, you should watch ICMR Website for announcement of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)- Rs. 16000/- per month, & Senior Research Fellowship (SRF)- Rs. 24,000/- per month approx, for your PG and PhD. studies respectively. Also, you must not forget to tick yes in the box for "Lectureship also".
You need this lectureship to apply for Assistant Professors & Associate Professors in Govt. Medical colleges.
Your pay packet at end of the first month itself will be about Rs. 48000/- to 50000/-
This will be the minimum requirement for applying to ICMR Scientist position also with similar payscales.
