In essay based questions you might have to write your opinion on a certain issue concerning our country , though there are multitude of such issues generally focus on the most recent and relevant ones as their goal is to check your sensitivity and your outlook
Search for GK specific to the course you are applying for
Subscribe to any current affairs journal and go through it every month.
*Quantitative ability
TISS question papers have always focused on very simple math's , mostly Data Interpretation

Yes, You can do MS in Aerospace Engineering in US as it is an inter-disciplinary programme for both electrical and mechanical students. And, further you should be aware of the concerned university's eligibility criteria as it lists out the eligible bachelor disciplines based the courses it plans to offer in MS. My another suggestion is that, you can take up Avionics as it is a pure electrical discipline than a mechanical one.

The eligibility norms for the examination are as follows:
1. Nationality
-For the Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service, a candidate must be a citizen of India.
-For the Indian Revenue Service, a candidate must be one of the following: A citizen of India A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India
