Hi Santosh,
To pursue B.tech from part time or full time the minimum education qualification is a 12th pass where as you did a diploma that too of 3 years, even if you had a 4 years diploma, you could have been eligible for the Lateral entry course. As per your qualification you are not eligible for the B.tech degree from either modes, yet you can go through the following link to inquire about the possibilities in the case of correspondence/ distance courses:

Hi Santosh,
If you are comparing between B.Tech and B.Sc in either of the study modes, B.tech is a far more technical course and i would advise you to go for it.
There aren't many options to pursue b.tech through correspondence, yet you may refer through the given link:

Hi,
Obviously the brand name of the university where you pursued your undergraduation from plays an important role. The criteria that is required by MIT is that your undergraduate degree has to be recognized by UGC and AICTE in India. Hi Shruti,
First thing I would suggest you to focus on is your graduation and score high percentage on that. coming back to your query, yes you can and you should go for placements through your college but why I am emphasizing you to focus on your graduation is for two reasons, one that, apart from your college placements you could be able to get a good job offers from other companies as well.
