In India, after B.Tech. one can pursue M.E. or M.Tech. not master of science. MS from abroad is known as Master of science. For first case, you can take direct admissions in government or private engineering colleges by just an application. But if you are looking for higher that is NITs or IITs, then GATE score is must. Now a days, even PSU jobs require that you have GATE score. For abroad study, you need to appear in on-line tests of GRE and English proficiency tests like TOEFL or IELTS. Many students prepare for these tests in 4th year, but it is advisable to finish graduation first & then appear, otherwise it may affect your degree
