Having work experience is not mandatory to pursue MBA from any IIM or non-IIM in india. However, it is always beneficial to have it as significant weightage is allotted to it by the various B-schools during their admission processes. So yes, it does play an important role.

It catapults your career from lower management cadre to mid-higher management cadre within a few years provided you take the right turns and choices.
