Yes — faculty at GIBS Bangalore do that a lot. In most of my classes, instead of just explaining a concept from a book, teachers will pull up real examples from companies, recent business news, or actual situations their contacts have seen in the industry. It makes the session feel less like memorizing and more like learning how things really work.

For example, in marketing class, a topic like “brand positioning” might be explained using a case from a well-known brand campaign, and in finance class, a theory might be linked to how actual companies analyse their numbers. It makes concepts stick better because you can visualize them in real business settings.

The GIBS Business School offers its students, throughout the academic year, numerous cultural events, management and sports events which create an active and developmental campus life. Examples of these are the big inter-college fests such as Enchainer; a management competition among colleges and their students. The highlights of Enchainer are numerous business competitions, quizzes, working on marketing and working through businesses, cultural performances and competitions offering prizes, all combine to produce an effective way to learn and have fun!

Through their participation in events including the Global IRE Summit, Finance Conclave and Campus Biz Day, students have the opportunity to show off their creativity, innovations and entrepreneurial ideas.

Regularly throughout the year, cultural celebrations are held including fests, music and dancing events, talent shows, festival celebrations and social events developing creativity, diversity and relationship development between students.

In addition to larger events, smaller club activities and workshops across all business disciplines — marketing, finance, HR, entrepreneurship and culture — provide additional social and professional opportunities for students through regularly scheduled events, guest speaker events and interactive events enhancing students' learning experiences and developing their leadership skills.

GIBS Business School has a strong emphasis on practical education and the preparation of students for their future careers. For this reason, GIBS provides frequent opportunities for students to engage in industry visits, guest speaker talks, and alumni sessions throughout the academic year.

Scheduled Industry Visits occur approximately monthly and align with specific course modules or live projects, allowing students the opportunity to experience firsthand the actual environment and operations of the organization, as well as understand its culture.

Guest Speaker/Talk Series and Corporate Presentations are offered monthly (or bi-monthly) by way of an expert or industry professional, who shares valuable insight regarding current trends and practices in their field/career.

GIBS regularly schedules Alumni Interactions and Panels with its graduates. In these sessions, graduates share their success stories, mentoring advice, guidance on placement options, and networking opportunities with students currently enrolled at GIBS. Interaction and networking with graduates currently in the business world help students gain a broader and deeper understanding of the current business climate. By scheduling these sessions, GIBS will continue to provide students with an ongoing opportunity to connect with and be open to new opportunities.
