It is difficult to compare Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) with Mainframe Programming courses. CCNA manages local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN) that use Cisco routers and switches. This can involve setting up network hardware and configure network devices. CCNA responsibility also includes Network security. At the start of career you will be employed on network device monitoring. CCNA also identify and solve issues that affect network performance, which can require unusual work hours and overtime. At the start of your career you may have to work in shifts. CCNA will require continuing education and training in order to maintain certification and pursue more advanced Cisco credentials. IBM Mainframe courses offer opportunity to program on Mainframe. Course content is concepts on MVS, JCL, VSAM , CICI , DB2,COBOL etc . There is shortage of Mainframe programmers as Computer Science graduates want to work on new technologies of Java and Microsoft etc. Majority of training Institutes provide training on only simulated environment. If you plan to do Mainframe training select an Institute which provides hands on training on Mainframe. Based on your education, you can do both courses. If you are interested in Programming you can go for Mainframe training.

Salary is a function of various factors - i.e. (i) the institute where you have completed your B.Tech + M.Tech. e.g. a graduate from a top institute will command a higher salary. (ii) Your work experience - organization and type of work profile (iii) city - a metropolitan city will have higher salaries as compared to smaller cities and towns. (iv) Your current organization - i.e. where you will be joining - an MNC usually has higher salaries as compared to other organizations. (v) Your work profile i.e. Manager/ AVP, etc. Thus one cannot allocate a figure.
