When Cultural sensibilities cause professional dilemma !
In a series of conversations I keep on sharing here, got this call from a concerned parent in Maharashtra.
Our family has religious beliefs and are purely vegetarian. My kid wants to be a chef, is there any scope for a person who doesn't want to even cook non vegetarian food?
So, writing for benefit of those with similar concerns:
I agree that maximum hotels offer a range of both vegetarian & non vegetarian dishes as all cuisine have varieties in both. However the best part of this industry is that there are many opportunities that allow you to work as per your comfort zone.
Keeping in mind the kitchen, there are many different kinds of chefs, you may opt for the bakery & confectionery, salads or even garnish sections as these do not involve non veg. Otherwise in case you are willing to cook non veg food,it is not so necessary for vegetarian students to taste what they have made. It will be suffice if they are willing to cook non-vegetarian dishes.

ATMA (AIMS Test for Management Admissions) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) for admission to MBA/PGDM and other postgraduate management programs in various B-Schools across India. Regarding DTE (Directorate of Technical Education), which is responsible for the admission process of various professional courses in the state of Maharashtra, it is best to check their official website or contact them directly to confirm if they accept ATMA May 2019 scores for the CAP rounds. A Candidate needs to have at least 14 Dental Points to be medically fit.
-Teeth which are not considered necessary for efficient work are given with 1 point each.
-Teeth assumed to be essential are allotted with 2 points each.
-Each incisor, canine, 1st and 2nd premolars holds 1 point provided their corresponding lower teeth are present.
-Each 1st and 2nd molar and well developed 3rd molar holds 2 points provided they are in good opposition to corresponding teeth in the lower jaw.
-If 3rd molar is not well developed, it holds only 1 point.
-When we have all 16 teeth intact in the upper jaw with a good functional opposition to corresponding teeth present in the lower jaw, the total points can be 20 to 22 ( based on 3rd molars are well developed or not).
