Well there are plenty of things you can do after studying English Literature. Careers in publishing require people with backgrounds in English Literature very often. You can go into the fields of journalism, writing and translation. Script writing, novel writing, play writing if you have a creative flair and an interest in writing. Education teaching, primary and secondary school children as well as professorship are also options after doing a Bed. Or MPhil.
You can even find jobs in the government sector as well like Civil Service, Decoders, Insurance, Law schools, Library, Teachers, etc. Jobs like, Linguists,Tourist guides, Translator is also applicable.

Hello preeti, as i understand, you do have a masters degree and you want to become a lecturer in a govt college of Rajasthan. To do so,you have to write the exam conducted by Rajathan Public service commission for recruitment of lecturers in Govt and aided junior/degree colleges. To teach in regular college M.Ed is not mandatory. But if you want to teach in college of education, then, yes, you should have M.Ed. If you are planning to work in a good college and get the UGC scales then you have to write National eligibility test whose details have been mentioned by Ms. Aru Chopra. A. Let me help you with few factors that can help you decide whether a course offered is genuine or recognized can be judged by the following:
1. Market value and acceptance of the course provided by the college.Rank and accreditation of the institute offering it.
2.Course curriculum,teaching methodology, faculty base and he placements of students who pursued the course (although placement is as much a result of an individual effort/interview preparedness as it is the company's initiative to invite companies to campus)
3. The number of companies that visited the campus.
4.Talking to the alumni of the college and asking them about 'how the course benefited them'
5.Talking to the current students and their overall education experience.with the course

I as a person who have my masters in physics recommend you to do masters from a good uni by writing the entrance and then going for Ph.d from IISC by clearing GATE or NET.
