The eligibility criteria for the civil services exam is as follows:
1. The candidate must hold a Pass Bachelor's degree from any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University, under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.
2. Candidates who have appeared or intend to appear for the final examination and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply for the Preliminary Examination. Considering future prospects, yes, hotel management is undoubtedly a good option. But then, it comes with its cons as well. One, the course is TOUGH. You need to maintain journals, grooming, attendance in most IHMs and you will be deprived of what you have pictured college life to be like. Then, there's emotional and mental stress. To be honest, for the first five years or so, in this career, you'll return home mentally drained and disappointed. And of course, the work pressure and long working hours are other challenges you'll face. But yes, once you overcome it all and find a firm stand in the industry, there's no looking back. You'll go places (quite literally, too) and earn lump sum. If you want to get rich while you're still young, this is the place to be in.
