IIIT is always better when compared to an NIT, however, small an IIIT may be, you'll always get a better exposure in an IIIT. So, according to me, you should go to the college you've been selected. Also, the spot rounds in most cases is a waste of time and money as they do not offer a seat in most of the cases.

You need to appear for TOEFL or IELTS and look after the university's entrance qualification and scores required.
