The department of civil engineering was established during the inception of the institute in the year 2002 with an intake of 30 students to produce competent engineers in the field of civil engineering. The student intake was increased to180 in the academic year 2014 2015. The department offers postgraduate degree programme in M.E Structural Engineering from the academic year 2013-2014 and M.E Construction Engineering and Management from the academic year 2014-2015. The department faculty members have good number of publication record in international and national journals and conferences. The civil department has been recognised as a collaborative research centre by Anna University, Chennai. The department is headed by an experienced Professor and supported by 37 dedicated faculty members. All the faculty members are Post Graduate in various disciplines. Two faculty members are pursuing Ph.D. Most of the faculty members are members in various professional bodies like ISTE, IE (I), ICI etc. , and are actively participating in the activities of those professional bodies. More than 250 students are active members in various professional bodies like ICI, IE (I) and EWB etc. ICI students chapter of Civil department has received the Best students chapter appreciation award from ICI Salem Centre. The only college and department having signed MOU with L & T Construction buildings and factories. The only Department which established centre of excellence in formwork engineering in association with esteemed industry L & T construction, Buildings and factories. Larsen and Toubro and department of civil engineering jointly organised a course on formwork engineering and concrete. The Industrial Co-Teaching course is conducted in collaboration with esteemed industry Sigaram Construction Pvt Ltd, Erode. The department of civil engineering has signed MOU with more than 10 esteemed core companies. The civil engineering department faculty members received research funding from UGC and MSME New Delhi. The department has excellent and consistent placement record and most of the eligible students are placed in reputed organizations.

I would suggest that instead of paying high fees to the coaching centers, you must go on a tour or travel around. If not that, just observe the things around you. Go on a walk every morning and observe the details and designs of the things around. Wherever you go, try to observe and see the things from your perspective. Try to analyses the things and think about them.
Apart from that, try to explore colors and learn about their meanings. For example - yellow color represents happiness and cheerfulness where Violet is for gloom and sadness. Try to connect with colors as the question in these entrance exams are related a lot to these color schemes. Watch Ads on TV. Yes, you heard me right. Questions are asked on that. Read newspaper every day. You not only get to know the news but you English also get improved and English comprises an important portion in these exams. Try to learn new words, phrases, idioms etc. For Maths, you must know the basics that were taught in lower classes. Try to solve Logical reasoning books and crossword puzzles in free time. They are fun to do, good exercise for brains and will help you a lot to clear various entrance exams.
