While computer science engineering, equally covers both hardware and software aspects. Information technology engineering and software engineering has a lesser focus on the hardware aspect. However, this difference hardly matters as universities frequently keep updating the syllabus for each branch.
Unless and until, you get a job in a hardware manufacturing company like Intel, Logitech, etc. this little difference in the syllabus hardly matters. Most of the jobs offered is in the software domain. If you opt for information technology engineering, you can become a software engineer. If you opt for computer science engineering, you can become a computer engineer which covers both hardware and software.
So, there is no need to compare the little differences between the branches. You can get admission in a good college in any of these branches. You should keep a percentage of over 70% without any backlogs.

At NICMAR, the applications are scrutinized and eligibility is established on the basis of documents submitted. The eligible candidates will be invited to appear for the selection procedure, which comprises of NICMAR Common Admission Test (NCAT), personal interview (PI) and rating of application (RA).
The details are mentioned below:
Total marks: 250 marks
1. NICMAR Common Admission Test (NCAT): 150 marks.
2. Quantitative and analytical ability: 60 marks.
3. Data interpretation: 30 marks.
4. Verbal and general ability: 60 marks.
Candidates can also submit valid CAT, GATE, GMAT or CMAT scores secured after January 01, 2015.
1. Personal interview (PI): 50 marks.
2. Rating of application (RA): 50 marks.
