The Common Proficiency Test is an entry level test i.e. the first level at which a student starts pursuing their Chartered Accountancy qualification.
It is a test of four subjects— Fundamentals of Accounting, Mercantile Laws, General Economics and Quantitative Aptitude.

Another option is to practice with mock question papers. These will be available from all leading book stores. By doing this, you will get a clear idea about the exam syllabus and pattern. GDs are held on current topics related to sports, economics, business etc, so you need to be aware of all the latest current affairs, for this you should read news papers and magazines.
GD is a team activity, so while participating you should express your views very clearly at the same time you also should give chance to others members in team to speak.
It is always advisable to take initiative and speak first if you know about the topic, but if you are not aware of the topic you should listen to others first and then speak.
As soon as you get to know the topic don't immediately start the discussion take 1-2 minutes time, jort down the points and then speak.
While speaking in GD your tone should not be aggressive, it should be polite and humble.
When the discussion is over, it would be good if you give the final conclusion on behalf of the group.
