Break in study is considered only upto graduation. Afterwards, gap in study is not applicable for pursuance of higher or parallel studies. Hence, you can go for GME or any other course and look for change in career. Secondly, as per your age, you are eligible for marine engineering career because maximum age limit to join 4 year B.Tech. Marine Engg is 25 years thus to join merchant Navy max age limit would be 25+4 =29. You will be 27+1=28 after finishing GME.
