Hi Nithin,
Afraid to say, you are not eligible to pursue higher studies in Canada. You could have still been eligible had you scored better grades but 42% is not even recognised. At least 55% is recommended. Please pursue a one year PGDM full-time and maintain your academics to study abroad in future.

Admission in PEC on the basis of paid seat is 22 lakhs. Can you really afford this as there is no chance on the basis of boards but yes, if you are a state topper or on 2nd or 3rd position in the state, you may try.

If you are in 12th class or dropping for JEE and other entrance exams then first focus on it. You may choose any branch of your interest, however, if you are good in computer languages, you may go for CSE. If you love infrastructure you may go for civil engineering, if your love is for machines-you may go for mechanical engineering.

You should pursue a field you are interested in because if you don't do it and lead your future with other options, you will not be that successful. Thus, I would suggest you to go for a field where your interest lies. But as you have asked, the best option is to go for mechanical engineering. If you are interested in it you can go for it. All the best!
