Yes! You can prepare for AIPMT without taking any coaching. However, in order to do so you really have to prioritize your time as cracking AIPMT is not a walk in the park as you need to be sure about your Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Also, as a friend , I would suggest you to join a coaching institute so that you get necessary study material and necessary guidance.
For self study you can refer to last years papers.
