Hi Sawan,
Well, it depends on your branch preference and also which IITs you consider as "good". Cut-offs are much higher in old IITs like Delhi, Kanpur and Bombay than the newly opened ones. JEE offered ranks to students scoring above 123 marks in JEE '14 which went approximately to AIR 19000. However, general category students only to AIR 9000 were considered for counselling and no student with AIR above 7500 got any branch in any IIT. You can opt for radio or broadcast journalism which will help you to understand all the aspects of radio including programming, writing etc. IIMC is the most premium institute for post graduation in mass communication that offers post graduation in radio journalism. Other than that, you can pursue the same from Amity University, Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, MIT International School of Broadcasting and Journalism.

It depends on your quality as both are good for sure, but B.Pharma's competition market is easy as compared to engineering's.

It is a 10 months rigorous course. The classes are from 10 am to 8:30 pm sometimes. The course does not have any final exam so there are continuous projects. There are small sets of modules and each module may have about 2-3 projects. They are very particular about deadlines so do not try messing around with it.

Congratulation for such a good rank of your son. According to the past records, the cut off for electrical and communication engineering is around 10000-11000, so you may have a chance if luck favors. If you are from home state, then you can definitely grab the chance of getting admission into NIT, Rourkela. NIT Rourkela is in 15th rank by NIRF in 2018. The infrastructure is good enough and well maintained. It has well maintained labs as well. It holds a good placement record. So you can have the chance of getting admission into NIT Rourkela. And you can also try for admission into other NITs like National Institute of Technology Calic

If you are getting good NIT then you should go for that. Dual degree is also good option but doing B.Tech from NIT is far better than that.
