Scope depends on your academic performance and interest, NOT on your gender! As far as the field is concerned,Biotechnology is an upcoming field having a promising future. But it demands your patience and a lot of interest as it is a research oriented field. You cant expect a fat salary just after completion of your B.tech in Biotechnology. Higher studies abroad as well as in India would widen your chances for satisfactory job in this field.Long years of studies though.

Pradyut, after diploma go for lateral entry B.Tech I.e.take admission in 2nd year.of B.Tech.
You have to appear for Lateral Entry Engineering Test (LEET). You must have min.of 60% marks in diploma to appear for LEET.
If you have not given LEET too, then opt for good private universities etc which offer admission on basis of LEET as well as marks in Diploma. They offer world class environment to students along with good placements. Some even offer good scholarships to students.
Check their websites.
Good luck.

Rishabh dropping an year won't be a good idea. there is no surety that next year you would get a better rank.
Try for admission in some good private universities that are imparting quality education to the students around the world. They offer you admission on JEE scores/ tests conducted by them/ your marks in 12th. Some of these also offer good scholarships based on any one of the above mentioned admission criteria.
Most of them are a great recruitment hub for companies these days.
Check the websites of some good universities or call on their toll free no.s for more details.
Good luck.
