If you are going for better, you should look out for economics at IIT-khadagpur.
But it is all based on your interests. These are all not mainstream branches as per now, but all are equivalently good as you will be graduating from IITs. So for me economic IIT-khadagpur > petroleum IIT dhanbad > Maths IIT-R.

Market is a bit down right now so placement scenario is a bit low right now, but by the time you will be graduating there will be ample jobs. And package wise you can google it for highest paying engineers worldwide.
Few world renowned recruiters are shell(Rs.13-15 lpa), Schlumberger(Rs.30-35 lpa), cairn (Rs.14-17 lpa), ONGC, british gas, OIL, etc.
Ample jobs are there so placement is good. Just you need to outshown yourself a bit.
