Skills to be required:

There is no much difference between MBA and PGDM.Some tell MBA is a degree but PGDM is just diploma.Even it is post graduate diploma it is equivalent to MBA in all aspects.Lets see small differences:
Some Universities admit P.hd students only if they have master degree(PGDMis not eligible).But top tier institutes like IIMs,IITs,XLRI consider PGDM students also.
Important point is that the institute ofering PGDM must be AICTE approved and AIU approved(Atleast AICTE is mandatory).If it is not approved by AICTE please dont join there.
I think UGC-NET exam does not allow PGDM students.But it is not much usefull.
Regarding corporates,PGDM has high value than MBA.Because they see MBA as normal University degree like M.Sc,M.com,B.Tech,etc., but PGDM as specialized course meant for future young Managers.So they give more importance to PGDM students.
MBA syllabus is governed by Universities so mostly theoretical business aspects will be there.But PGDM is given by Autonomous institutes so their syllabus is more inclined towards contemporary world.i.e., they are more inclined to industry.
PGDM will give you many practical exposures in terms of general management in addition to subject and business aspects.
Regarding Placements,MBA and PGDM are indifferent. Corporates see the institutes and students" knowledge and not the degree.So give importance to college not MBA or PGDM.
So my last advice is that give importance to institute and other things(like location or whatever you feel is important).Also do PGDM only if it is AICTE approved.IT will be still better if it is AIU approved.
