Yes you are eligible for NET exam , but you have to try for regular degree , distance degree is not good for job , only part time or executive MBA is good option but for this you need to have more than 3 year of work experience , this is specially designed for working professionals , and if you clear NET exam and apply for teaching job then it may be create problem , because in maximum good college distance degree not be considered

You can go for another professional degree that is B.Tech. These days we have B.Tech in biotech./ nanotech./ food tech./ agri.engg.etc medical students.
