I am mentioning here, what all steps you need to look after:
1) Application form: Make sure you review the application instructions thoroughly. Fill each section accurately and completely, and then check for any errors that you may have made. Make sure you are directly and clearly answering each question. If you have any questions or concerns, send an email to the appropriate contact at the university for clarity.
2) Application Fees: these vary by University and generally range from $100 to $250.
3) Standardized Tests and Scores: Most colleges will require you to have taken the GMAT or GRE. Additionally, you will need to send the official exam report directly from the official reporting agency to the University. A college may have a separate standardized test submission deadline. Remember - this may be different from the application deadline.
4) English Proficiency Exams: do you need to take the TOEFL or IELTS? Check the university website. These are usually required if your native language is not English. Colleges may waive this requirement if certain prerequisites are met.
5) Grades: most institutions require official transcripts from your undergraduate degree. Some universities may ask you to use an academic credential verification service (e.g. WES World Education Service) to obtain a course-by-course report.
6) Essays or Statements of Purpose: each college has their own requirements when it comes to essays, so make sure that your essays communicate that you are the right fit.
7) Resume: Make sure you provide a snapshot of all of your academic, professional and personal accomplishments.
8) Letter(s) of Recommendation: LORs (as they are colloquially referred to) are to be written by your recommenders. Clearly articulate YOUR deadlines to them and don't hesitate to follow up and remind them of the same as the deadlines get closer. Please be sure to write a formal thank you letter/email to your recommender(s) after.
9) Additional requirements: if you are applying to a program that requires additional materials or for financial aid ensure you have met all their specifications by the appropriate deadline.
Also if there are any required stipulations, make sure you adhere to them e.g. a minimum of 2 years of work experience or a minimum GMAT score of 600 or an undergraduate degree in a particular subject.
10) Interview: the interview, if required, is your critical final step in the application process.
