The eligibility criteria for VIT-Vellore is a minimum of 60% marks in an undergraduate degree (minimum 3 years duration after 10+2) from a recognised university/institute.
Only the candidates who have studied in regular full-time programmes are eligible to apply.
After applying for the college, you will be called for a written assessment test (WAT) and a personal interview (PI).
The final selection will be made based on the merit list using a composite score with the following components:

As per the rapidly growing trend in the analytical and statistical divisions of the companies, I would advise you to go for BIG Data Hadoop. It's more acceptable and widely used in various IT and Banking Companies. My opinion says that before jumping into the Big Data, you should to make yourself very efficient in Machine Learning and Deep Learning. Having good concepts over these might give you the additional weightage over other candidates.

143 is a fair score and you can take up computers from other colleges than IITs. You can also opt for other private colleges for a better score and better choice for the degree.
