Here are the basic eligibility criteria to apply for NZ Study visa:
- Must have an admission letter from a university located in NZ
- You must prove you have enough funds to cover your tuition fee, living cost and return ticket.
- Must be mentally and physically fit.
- English language proficiency score to prove you can communicate in English.
- If you're under 18, you need proof of accommodation and a guardian's consent.

There are many private colleges, well-known, who offer lateral entry in second year of engineering if you have completed diploma in concerned topic. All such admissions are made based on guidelines issued by AICTE. In addition, normally, the state from which you have completed diploma, will have an entrance test for lateral intake in colleges of that particular state.
