Biotechnology engineering is the study of biology with technology for research & development. The scope of this branch has been on the high in the following fields:

New DNA technologies
Photosynthetic efficiency
Enzyme engineering and technology
Biotechnology has great scope. Candidates who have completed B.Tech degree in Biotechnology can pursue their career in the pharmaceutical industry. Various pharmaceutical companies like Dabur, Hindustan lever, Cipla, Rossari Biotech India Pvt. Ltd and Hindustan antibiotics employ these graduates for research, marketing and testing purposes.
Some of the posts available for theses graduates are Marketing Manager, Quality Control Officer and Production in-charge. These graduates can work in the biotechnology division of manufacturing companies like Southern Petrochemical Industries Limited and Godrej. They can also work as research scientists in various governmental research institutes like Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), National Brain Research Centre and National Institute of Oceanography.
After completing B.Tech in Biotechnology, one can write different governmental exams like Civil Services exam, Combined Defense Service exam and SSC Combined Graduate Level exam to get into the posts available in the government sector.

The basic eligibility criteria for admission into bachelor’s degree is, higher secondary school certificate (10+2) examination with science subject such as biology, maths and chemistry. For admissions into the IITs, the student has to clear the Joint Entrance Examinations (J.E.E).
The duration for the course is 4 years.
